New Changes Applied In Australian Immigration From July 1, 2024

Are you aware of the latest changes to Australian immigration updates? Are you curious about the significant modifications that the authorities have implemented? The Australian government is making some significant changes to immigration. These changes have an effect on different visa classes and conditions, which were already initiated on July 1, 2024. Sponsor companies, short-term visa holders, existing visa holders, skilled migrant labourers, and new applicants are impacted by these changes that are implemented.

Australian Immigration Law Updates

The following points highlight the major modifications to Australian immigration that will be implemented on July 1, 2024:

  1. Short-term skilled worker visa (SUBCLASS 482)

Applying for the Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482)/TSS/482 visa allows Australian companies to lessen some labour shortages. This happens by sponsoring foreign skilled individuals to fill up the positions that are difficult for local employees to fill.

The following are the changes to the 482 program that will continue to be in effect this year:

  • An increase in TSMIT: The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold will go up from $70,000 to $73,150 as of July 1, 2024. This change will not apply immediately to candidates who were already authorized or filed before July 1, 2024; instead, it will only impact new candidates filed after that date.

  • Improving Mobility in the Labor Market: With the effect of this, 482 visa holders will have up to a total of 365 days to find a new sponsoring organization, register a document for a different visa, or initiate schemes to leave Australia as per the terms of visa conditions 8107, 8607, and 8608. >Reducing the Work Experience: The demand for skilled workers will drop from the current two years into a single year as of November 23, 2024, which will help companies better manage their skills and help new graduates.

2. Updates to the Working Holiday Visa (SUBCLASS 417):

For holders of UK visas beginning on July 1st this year, they will not have to perform any specified work to be given a visa, probably for the third time, giving businesses more flexibility and more flexible labour.

3. Paths for international students needing a visa:

Persons on visitor-type visas will not be allowed to apply from within Australia for a student visa. In the same way, those in control of a current temporary graduate visa will not be permitted to reapply for a student visa from within Australia.

4. Changes to visas for graduates:

The "Graduate Work" and "Post-Study Work" categories will be renamed "Post-Vocational Education Work" and "Post-Higher Education Work," respectively, according to the Temporary Graduate Visa. The "Replacement" stream will be cancelled, and the "Second Post-Study Work" stream will get a name along with it.

5. BIIP'S end:

The business innovation and investment program will end in July of this year, and those who want to drop their provisional application will receive a refund of the application fee for a visa commencing in September of this year.

6. A Fresh "VISA FOR NATIONAL INNOVATION":

By December 2024, the Australian government will plan on launching a new National Innovation Visa in a bid to bring in highly skilled migrants to boost Australia's economic growth.

7. A Growth in VACs:

The following changes to the migration laws are already in effect with a rise in visa application charges; such changes are:

  • Annual indexation method: Each year, VACs will be rounded to the nearest $5 and improved to comply with the expected Consumer Price Index.
  • One-Time Increase for Student Visas: For student visas, the average application cost will go up from $710 to $1,600.

Conclusion

During this time, holders of visas are permitted to find work in any job with multiple companies. It is essential that they first leave their sponsoring employer's existing position. If a visa holder's job situation shifts, sponsors must swiftly inform the department of the modification within 28 days.
